Leadership in Emerging Technologies
TTC continuously explores more efficient technologies that not only provide better products to our customers but also benefit the environment.

The TTC - IVT (Infinitely Variable Transmission) is the latest version of a technology meant to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. Our design is a toroidal traction-drive transmission, which consists of a toroidal cavity between two disks that face each other in parallel. Two or three equally spaced power rollers transmit torque from the input disk to the output disk. There is no metal-to-metal contact between the disks and power rollers. Torque transmission is accomplished by means of a special traction fluid that develops extremely high shear resistance under high-contact pressure between the disks and rollers.

Features of the TTC - IVT include:

  • Infinitely variable ratio from 17% engine speed (in reverse) to 200% engine speed (in forward)
  • No torque converter required
  • No countershaft all coaxial design
  • Electronically controlled (allows specific programming to optimize vehicle performance)

Benefits of the IVT technology include:

  • Allows for the use of fewer axle ratios
  • Can be programmed to match application vehicle needs (Powertrain Manager)
  • Reduced vehicle complexity
  • Improved cost in increased fuel mileage, transit time, and reduction in operating cost
  • Simplified servicing / inventory
  • Improved NVH characteristics
  • Increased engine durability

TTC's Automated Mechanical Transmission
technology provides all the benefits of a manual transmission lower acquisition cost, simplicity of design, proven reliability, and ease of maintenance with the best features of an automatic transmission no clutch pedal or shifting required. This technology will improve efficiency in a wide variety of stop-and-go operations, such as in-city P&D, beverage hauling, food distribution, and many others.

Features of the TTC Automated Mechanical Transmission include:

  • Fully programmable, electronically controlled shifting
  • No clutch pedal
  • No shift lever
  • Allows for the use of fewer axle ratios
  • No external cooler required
Benefits of the new technology include:

  • Improved driver comfort and safety
  • Lower operating costs through reduced stress on drivetrain components
  • Flawless shifting for improved fuel efficiency (up to 15% improvement in fuel economy)
  • Exceptional service and support
